Brian Lee
Brian Lee began his business career training as an accountant in the City of London. In 1959, whilst completing his National Service in the British Army, he was commissioned, later becoming a Captain, serving as the second in command of an experimental Brigade Group Signal Squadron in Germany. On completing his commission he then returned to London and joined a specialist Insurance Broker, later becoming Managing Director and then Chairman. In the meantime Brian had incorporated his own professional accountancy, taxation and business consultancy practice, and the two businesses grew to a combined compliment of over sixty people.
Brian’s wife, Jenny, is a Chartered Physiotherapist and a research Reflexologist, and she founded a number of research projects into the treatment of Children’s Asthma. From that has grown an international organisation called “Baby Reflex”, which, with Brian’s interest as its chairman, has grown to be a sought after treatment for babies and toddlers. Brian and Jenny have four children who have added eleven grandchildren to the family.
Brian has always had an active participation in sports, and played squash to county standard; was a regular team tennis player, and is still a keen golfer. He swims regularly, and for relaxation finds a boat in the Mediterranean the perfect answer. Keeping physically fit, yet, at the same time, remaining relaxed and free from the stress that can so often mar modern business life, makes sense.
For thirty years Brian’s active interest in education led him to being asked to join a parent association and from there to take up the post of a school finance governor. That interest continued for many years and he was appointed to the chair of their board. During that period, that school doubled in size and now ranks as one of the best examples of fully rounded education for young people in the South East of the UK.
Born as a Gemini, Brian has been unable to resist the occasional challenge, and in the course of his other roles, developed a property business. He also bought a redundant farm and took on the creation, planning and development of a very fine eighteen hole Golf Course, on which several Senior PGA tournaments have since been promoted.
Brian first met Tony Buzan in the 1980’s and quickly joined with helping to achieve the goal of World Wide Mental Literacy. Those previous professional and commercial roles, proved to be of considerable value to Tony’s, development of Buzan principles and initiatives around the world.
Brian now chairs “The Buzan Organisation”, “ThinkBuzan”, and our new subsidiary in the United States of America. He remains determined to see Buzan Principles continue to create better and ever more efficient tools to aid not only understanding and learning, but also the basic “thinking” skills, so needed all over the world.
One of Brian’s greatest beliefs has ALWAYS been that well designed methods and tools can help to improve the standard of education everywhere.
"ThinkBuzan", will become one more vital step in that process as they share Brian’s view that
“With good training and education ALL of us CAN actually DO, and ACHIEVE, more than TWICE as much as we might first THINK we CAN ”
