Rob Draper is a Learning and Development Advisor providing training programmes and consultancy that focus on improving health and safety practice within the social care sector. Rob began his career working as an Audio Visual Technician for a video production company. This role involved making staff training and corporate information films for a wide variety of international customers. This work took Rob in to day centres for adults with Learning Disabilities in the north of the country it was at this time Rob decided he was in the wrong job and felt the need to change. Rob began working for Worcestershire County Council in 1986 as a Day Centre Officer and after 19 years in care services he took up new challenges at the Learning, Development and Wellbeing Centre.
Rob has always been interested in his own development and soon became interested in developing others. He is a Manual Handling instructor who practices a person centred approach and is currently introducing Haptonomie as a concept to Worcestershire Manual Handling Team. His sessions emphasise both the legislative responsibilities and the importance of personal wellbeing across the statutory and private sector. Rob currently works in local government but works with clients across the Private Independent and Voluntary sectors. A personal aim is to raise the importance of health and well being rather than focusing on the more traditional views of health and safety.
Rob is married with two children, his hobbies include:
