Can I run iMindMap on Mac OS X Snow Leopard?
Yes! iMindMap Version 4.1 is fully compatible with Snow Leopard. Please note that unfortunately iMindMap Versions 2, 3 and 4.0 will not run on the Snow Leopard operating system.
  • Version 4.0 Users:
    You can simply upgrade free of charge to Version 4.1. You can do this by emailing us at support@thinkbuzan.com, we will then pass the download links onto you.
  • Version 2 and 3 Users:
    You can purchase iMindMap Version 4.1 by visiting us at the upgrade page.


By upgrading to Version 4.1 you will also benefit from a number of other features such as creating your own templates, exporting your audio notes and improved Presentation Mode.

Can I use iMindMap with Windows 7?
The newest version of iMindMap, Version 4.1, is fully compatible with Windows 7. Unfortunately the older versions of iMindMap will not run on Windows 7.
  • Version 4.0 Users:

I have received an 'Error 503', 'Error 703' or 'Activated Too Many Times' message.
If this message appears, typically it indicates that your iMindMap license has exceeded the number of allowed activations.
  • If you have not activated iMindMap on more than one computer please fill out our Technical Support form, which can be found at the technical support page and one of our Technical Team will explore the issue for you.
  • To ensure this issue is resolved as quickly as possible, please make sure you include your full serial number and the email address with which you would have originally ordered the iMindMap software from in this form. Our Technical Support team will then be in contact so that you can activate iMindMap as soon as possible.
  • If you have a new computer and wish to transfer the license across from your current machine, please contact our Technical Support Team at the technical support page, who will be able to take you through this process.
When I try to activate iMindMap a 'Corrupt License' message appears.
This message is most likely appearing because you are trying to enter a Version 3 serial number into a newer Version of iMindMap.
  • Uninstall iMindMap from your computer - even if you have only trialled the software.
    To uninstall:
    • PC: Go to the Start Menu > Control Panel > Programs. Select iMindMap from the list and right click to uninstall.
    • Mac: Drag the program into Trash.
  • Download and install the iMindMap Version 3 from the following links:
  • Re-enter your serial number. This can be found in the email you originally received from us, the subject will be 'Registering Buzan's iMindMap - serial number enclosed'. You should now be able to activate iMindMap successfully.
When I try to activate my license 'Unable to get license by serial number, please contact your Administrator' appears.
The most likely reason you are having problems registering iMindMap is because your computer cannot connect with our server. This may be due to your proxy server setting or a firewall on your computer.
  • You can use our simple Manual Activation System so that you do not have to connect to the internet to activate iMindMap.
  • Visit the manual activation page and follow the step-by-step instructions for a quick and easy activation. This should take around five minutes.
My Images, Branches and Central Ideas are disappearing and dashed lines are appearing.
This problem is caused by a small number of ATI graphics that are causing conflict with java drawing.
  • This can be solved by adjusting the setting within iMindMap. From the drop down toolbar select Tools > Options > Advanced.
  • Please note, the Advanced tab is only available to Windows users.
  • Reduce the performance on the slider scale by moving it towards 'Lower'. Click Ok.
  • You then need to close and re-open iMindMap in order to activate the changes.
  • If this does not work you may have to keep on altering the performance setting until a point is found that fixes the problem. By doing this you are simply decreasing the amount of system resources that are allocated to iMindMap.
My iMindMap is running slow and keeps on freezing.
You can improve the speed of iMindMap by defining the amount of system resources allocated to the iMindMap.
Solution
  • From the drop down toolbar select Tools > Options > Advanced. Please note, the Advanced tab is only available to Windows users.
  • Once here you can increase or decrease the amount of system resources that are allocated to iMindMap.
  • To do this, move the slider towards 'Lower' or 'Higher' performance.
Lower Performance
  • By moving the slider to 'Lower' performance you will reduce the amount of system resources iMindMap is using. Although, it may impact upon the speed of iMindMap.
  • It is recommended you select lower performance if you are experiencing problems with your graphics card, or if your computer only has limited memory.
Higher Performance
  • By moving the slider to 'Higher' performance you will increase the amount of system resources iMindMap is using. This will improve the speed of iMindMap.
  • Once you have selected the performance you wish click 'Ok'.
  • You then need to close and re-open iMindMap in order to see the changes.


Other Solutions
Expand and Collapse
  • If you collapse the branches within your map the speed will improve. For more information please see Step 3 of the 'Quick Start Guide' by visiting www.thinkbuzan.com.guides/quickstart
Focus in and Out
  • If you focus in on the branch you are working on you will then be working on a smaller Mind Map so the speed of the program should increase. If you then focus out your new branches will be added to your main Mind Map. For more information please go to the Help tab on the main toolbar in iMindMap.
Can I install iMindMap on two computers?
Yes, a single user license will allow you to install the software on up to two machines, for example your desktop and laptop. You can even install iMindMap on two different Operating Systems, such as Windows and Mac by using the provided download links in your 'Registering Buzan's iMindMap - serial number enclosed' email which would have been sent to you upon purchase.
Please note if you wish to install iMindMap on a third computer you would then need to purchase another license.
I have a new computer
  • If you have a new computer and have only used your serial number once you can simply use it a further time when you have downloaded iMindMap to your new computer.
  • If you have replaced your computer, and you have already used your serial number twice you can still install iMindMap on your new computer without purchasing a new license.
  • Simply fill in the online form at the technical support page including your serial number and we will take you through our de-activation process, so that iMindMap can be activated on your new computer.
  • If you do not have the download links to install iMindMap on your new computer, please let us know when filling in this form.
  • You should also tell us which Operating System you will be using on your new computer, so that we can send you the correct download link for your new computer.
I want to install iMindMap on two different Operating Systems.
  • As long as it is either a Windows, Mac or Linux Operating System iMindMap will function as normal.
  • You will need to have the correct download link for the relevant Operating System, which you will have received in your original email from us; the subject will be 'Registering Buzan's iMindMap - serial number enclosed'.
  • However, you can request these download links by filling out the technical support form at the technical support page.
  • Select the relevant Operating System and download it. You will be prompted to input your serial number which is also in the original email you received.
  • You will now be able to use iMindMap on your computer.
Can I upgrade from one Edition of iMindMap to another? For example from Elements to Ultimate?
Yes! You are able to upgrade your license very simply - however this is at an extra cost.
  • You need to have your original serial number in order to do this.
  • Simply follow this link to our upgrade page.
  • When prompted type or cut and paste your serial number into the box.
  • Next select which Edition you wish to upgrade to. The price to upgrade will also be shown here.
  • Then select 'Confirm Selection'.
  • Then you will have to enter your information into our payment system.
  • Once you payment has been confirmed you will be sent two emails, your Payment Confirmation email and an email with download links, serial number and instructions in order for you to upgrade instantly.

I downloaded the 7 day Free Trial and used the Presentation feature. When I purchased the Elements edition of iMindMap I can't find this feature.
The trial version of iMindMap is the Ultimate Edition, which contains our full feature suite.
  • Certain features, such as the Presentation Mode, can only be found in the Ultimate Edition and not in the Elements or Professional Editions.
  • You can access a full list of features of each Edition at the feature overview page.

I have a Mac and I cannot use the 'Interactive Presentation' feature.
The only iMindMap feature that is not compatible with Mac Operating Systems is the Export to Interactive Presentation feature.
  • However, the Presentation Export Mode is fully functional on Mac Operating Systems, which you may wish to use as an alternative.
  • Exporting your Mind Map as a presentation turns it into a complete Keynote or PowerPoint presentation with your Mind Map image one slide 1 and slides set up based on the content of your map.
  • All of the other export features are fully operational for the Mac. These include: PDF, webpage, image, spreadsheet, text document and SVG.
