Grenville is a family man. In 1969 he married Glenys and they have two children: Lindsay, who married Alistair and Andrew who married Samantha.
Grenville loves teaching. Found at a desk or on the sports field “teaching” or coaching a friend or colleague, he was often asked by school mates, friends, and colleagues why he had not become a teacher.
Grenville held the position of accountant in several companies and, as is often the case, the IT portfolio as well. Combining his experience in these fields he joined the IT world, working for IBM for 15 years and then launched a high tech start-up company, NCM, which he later sold. Thereafter Grenville worked for Unisys and provided IT consulting and services in the areas of systems, governance, IT and business strategy.
Business related presentations led him into public speaking and he became a member of the Professional Speakers Association of South Africa.
In June 2007 he met and shared his plans with Tony Buzan, the Inventor of Mind Mapping, and became a “Warrior of the Mind”. Grenville and represents the Buzan Organisation in South Africa as an affiliate and reseller. Recently Grenville qualified as a Buzan Licensed Instructor.
In 2008 Grenville founded the Institute for Strategic Awareness.
Cycling, building and flying kites and remote control gliders keep Grenville fit and active. He values the relaxing distraction of the precision work they require, enjoys the company, and loves the invigorating spontaneity, demands of concentration and adrenaline highs they provide.
