Thum Cheng Cheong is a Product & Course Development director of Buzan Asia Pte Ltd, Academic Director of Nurture Craft Education Services Pte Ltd and a grass-root leader. He is a coach/mentor to teachers/instructors and an advocate of Corporate Social Responsibility.

Thum holds an LLB (Hons) from the National University of Singapore. He has been a practising lawyer since 1986 before joining the Singapore banking industry as a Legal Counsel. Having worked in both local and foreign banks for about 16 years, he has gained valuable experience in the operations, risks and controls functions, business process redesign and ISO certification. He has designed many workshop programmes which are aligned with his mission to reinvent the way we learn and teach. He conducts regular Mind Map and iMindMap workshops for teachers and students from all levels and corporate clients. His training sessions comprise a blend of anecdotes, personal testimonies and challenges which engages and impacts the audience.

A self-taught artist, he has achieved a series of breakthroughs combining Mind Map and Art:

  • Conferred by Buzan Centre Asia as The Mind Map Artist for the world's largest Mind Map unveiled in Singapore (2007);
  • Commissioned by a commercial organisation to Mind Map the company's philosophy, awards and manufacturing process for the best selling health tonic product 'Brand's Essence of Chicken';
  • Successfully incorporated cartoons and art into Mind Maps. Some of Thum's Mind Maps were shortlisted for a national art competition and featured on "Artlander" - a Singapore television program;
  • Designed the first Mind Map Art Mural in Singapore which was drawn on a 3.6m high wall in Pathlight School, the first autism-focused school in Singapore;
  • Published "Visual Maps for Primary 3 Science".

His Mind Map Art challenges his trainees to exceed their mental and learning boundaries. He shared his "Journey as The Mind Map Artist" during the Mind Map Festival held in Thailand in July 2008.

He is passionate about Mind Mapping and his story was published in The Sunday Times on 11 January 2009, TODAY on 25 April 2009, Mind Maps for Business (2010) and also featured in Channel News Asia's "Second Act" on 2 April 2009.
